Character Analysis of Scarlett and Melanie
Gone with the Wind,the only novel written by American female writer Margaret Mitchell,the representative of the escapist literature.The writer depicted the American civil war from an unusual southem viewpoint,focused on the female pmtagonist-Scarlett O' Ham's whole life.Margaret projected a series of distinctive characters,among them,the two brilliant remarkable female protagonists-Scarlett O'Hare and Melanie Hamilton are particulady remarkable and in different glamour,their characters are in sharp contrast.This paper makes a comparative study of their characters from different aspects-their different attitudes towards the people around them,love and life,from this we can get a look at the American national spirit and personalities,and make a further discussion to analyze the relationship among character,fate and society.
